Ethical Collection of Kambo Secretions
A brief history of how you are able to have kambo, safely and ethically in the UK:
Karen is a genius and a legend. She went and lived with the tribes for years learning about kambo. She brought kambo to Europe and formed the IAKP - International Association of Kambo Practitioners. A psychiatrist and acupuncturist amongst other things, she's a well educated woman who created the training course designed to bring you excellently trained kambo practitioners. Kambo is completely safe when administered properly.

Karen has the blessing of the tribes elders with the training course she created and she works collaboratively with them ensuring the ethical harvesting of the frog's secretions.

The frogs are called 'phyllomedusa bicolour' - phyllo means leaf and medusa means guardian. They are a guardian of the Amazon. What was happening was the tribes were losing their younger members who wanted to leave, wanted money and stuff. With the increasing demand for kambo, sananga and hape and dragon's blood there is now a way for the tribes to earn money and stay in their home environments. The women also make beaded jewellery and there are locally made pipes for the hape which are all available to buy.

Money is sent regularly from both the IAKP and from individual practitioners and a fair price is paid for the kambo. The frogs are in danger of being over 'harvested' if unmoderted situations. With the IAKP we get secretions from the Matses Tribe. They call the frogs (the frogs come becuase they are not afraid) the frogs are tied momentarily (a matter of seconds) and the first layer of secretion is scraped off. This leaves plenty left for the frog to protect itself. They are tied to stop them from smearing it all over their bodies so it can be collected. Where they are tied leaves little white marks around their feet which last for 2-3 months. If a frog has any white bands on it when it comes down from the trees after being called they aren't used for collecting secretions.

The frogs aren't traumatised, they happily sit around on the tribes-people after the process. It's firmly believed it's meant to be done this way as Mother Aya showed the shamen Kampur. So this is how the Giant Tree Frog protects the Amazon. People have tried to remove the frogs to keep them captive for harvesting but once removed they no longer secrete the peptides.

I recommend extreme caution using any source of kambo that cannot be traced to it's ethical harvesting, because kambo is full of the spirit of nature, mystical in it's workings of energetic flow, I personally wouldn't want traumatised kambo in my system.
